FREEPORT, Texas — Firefighters responded Tuesday afternoon to a reported fire call at the Dollar General located at 1224 N. Brazosport Blvd. in Freeport, near Taco Bell.

Gulf Coast Times arrived at the scene at approximately 2:55 p.m., around the same time fire crews were on location. No visible smoke or flames were seen from outside the store.

Customers and employees were standing outside while firefighters went inside the building to check the situation.

After speaking with firefighters at the scene, Gulf Coast Times was told the issue did not appear to be major. Early information pointed to a possible wiring-related issue, but nothing of serious concern had been confirmed at the time.

The store was waiting on CenterPoint Energy before reopening.

No injuries were reported at the scene, and no major fire damage was visible from outside the building.

This is a developing local update and may be updated if more information becomes available.
